Ushers
Ushers help provide a friendly comfortable atmosphere for the church services. This includes assisting people to find seating, collecting the offering, and seeing that someone is assigned to take up the wine and hosts at the Offertory. The ushers aid the priest, count and record attendance, and distribute hand outs. In general, the ushers are there to help both the parishioners and clergy as needed. New ushers are paired with experienced ushers at first for training.

Greeters
Greeters are needed at the church entrances before Mass to provide a welcoming presence. An important part of the ministry is assisting people who use the accessible entrance in the alley. Greeters also answer questions from visitors. New greeters will be scheduled with experienced greeters for training.

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers that we see at Mass are there because they wish to serve the Church and the parish. The time commitment for new people is generally one Mass every few weeks. Eucharistic Ministers need one training session. Parishioners of high school age or older are encouraged to serve in this ministry. Minister Guidelines

Eucharistic Outreach Ministers
In this very important service, our Eucharistic Outreach Ministers bring Communion to Catholics who are homebound, in assisted living, memory care, adult care homes, the nursing home, etc. They do this on Sunday mornings. Ministers go to Bishop Place and preside at a 10 a.m. Communion Service in the Activity Room, then bring Communion to those who were unable to come to the service. Ministers do the same at Regency Pullman, where there are fewer residents. Ministers leave Sacred Heart after the 8:30 Mass to visit the homebound and any Catholics who are at the Avalon Care Center, and take Communion to them.

Lectors
Lectors who we see and hear at Mass are there because they wish to serve the Church and the parish. The time commitment for new people is generally one Mass every few weeks. For Lectors, one training session, and arrival at Mass 15 minutes earlier than usual is needed. Parishioners of high school age or older are encouraged to serve in this important ministry. Altar Servers
Altar servers provide an important and valuable service to our parish. Through service as an altar server, one gains a greater appreciation and understanding of the Mass. We welcome all individuals who have been confirmed to serve in this important ministry. You will receive necessary training and then be paired with an experienced server. We ask that you make a commitment to serve Mass every few weeks or when there is a need.

Nursery Workers
Nursery is cancelled for the summer, let us know if you would like this service.
We offer 6th-12th grade parishioners an opportunity to help in our parish nursery during 11:00 AM Sunday Mass.
We will provide training, allow you to pick when you would like to assist, and you will make a little money in the process. We will make sure your assigned times do not conflict with your schedule as an altar server or lector at Mass.
